Belgian renovation included wooden containers to solve housing issue in this old factory
People experience inconvenience while renovating an apartment. Not everyone has the opportunity for this time to move to a dacha or rent another home. Small interiors in wooden containers help the Belgian youth calmly wait out the renovation of their personal apartments. The newlyweds were the first to enter the experimental housing and appreciate the advantages of the architects’ idea.

The first block of two glazed wooden boxes was installed in the workshop of an abandoned factory. One room serves as a living room and office. The second contains a wardrobe and a bedroom. Between the rooms there is an impromptu patio and a kitchen with a dining room.
Furniture is used to a minimum, versatile open shelves instead of cabinets and hangers. Through the skylights of the roof and windows of the building, lighting freely penetrates into all corners during the day. In the dark, ordinary incandescent bulbs are used.

The location in the old enterprise creates all the possibilities to be close to the apartment, which is being renovated and to control what is happening there. The furnishings themselves suggest the interior design of the loft-style temporary housing. The lack of decor and decoration does not distract from the chosen project and does not create the prerequisites for adding and changing what is already being done. A fireplace and wood will make the evenings unforgettable.

Pure unpainted wood creates coziness, makes simple containers warm and unique, like nature itself. An iron channel and a roof of rough beams, complemented by brutal walls and columns, create a romantic atmosphere in a clean living room behind glass. The arrangement of small rooms in a large building provides privacy. Young people can spend more time together.

Everything is in sight, close by and nothing more. The convenient location of the temporary housing is combined with the judicious use of abandoned buildings. After use, wooden boxes can be quickly dismantled and installed in another similar place.
