The original low cost concept of a country guest house
Austin based Mell Lawrence Architects implemented the Mod Cott project. The luxury property is a private family home that can be seen on the shores of Lake Buchanan, Texas. The structure, in the form of a simple metal frame, was anchored to an elevation to provide views of the lake below. This guest house complements the adjacent stone residence.
This is a great weekend getaway for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Non-standard equipment with communications only contributes to this. Private house lighting depends on the fourteen solar panels attached to the building, which provide it with energy. And the rainwater collected from the roof is used for household use.
The modern Texas property is oriented south. Its metallic exterior is accented with windows, which in turn create vignettes to the east and west. A partition separates the elongated rectangular interior and supports the structure of a small attic that appears to be floating in relation to the glazed space. The flooring made of fir plays the role of the ceiling of the room and, at the same time, serves as the parquet floor of the attic floor.
Then it is repeated in the wall cladding, plus in the design of the staircase screen. Decor elements are standard, simple and natural. The facade of the building is made in the form of glass doors, thanks to which the interior space seems more voluminous, the room through them is filled with the sounds of the lake breeze and nature. This place is definitely for you!
