House-island is the dream of hunters and fishermen
Probably every second man dreamed of catching a fish from his own terrace. But the idea to open the glass wall and immediately dive into the clear water of Lake Loosdrechtse-Place in the Netherlands will only come to mind for the owners of the unique house-island. We will tell the visitors of our popular forum about all the possibilities of the residential project created in 2011 by the Rotterdam studio 2by4-Architects .
The small size of the resort, as its authors called it, is due to the size of the island: 5 by 100 meters. The entire space (21 sq. M.) Is organized as an open space, fully integrated into the landscape. Restrictions on the maximum volume of development make it necessary to clearly think over how to effectively use free space. On a small plot, the architects were able not only to place the building itself, but also successfully equipped it with everything necessary for quality outdoor recreation: a kitchen, a modern electric fireplace , a shower and a toilet. The double wall has built-in wardrobes.
The space has no clear boundaries, but everyone will immediately determine where the living room and dining room are. The house is interesting in that its corner consists of a wooden sliding wall. Moving it away, you can combine the interior of the room and the terrace. The facade of the wooden house opens completely, presenting an amazing panorama of the lake and forest. At the same time, the folded panels look like abstract elements floating perpendicularly above the water. A fireplace that hangs on the ceiling looks unusual; its position can be easily changed, for example, turned towards an open area.
Transparent facades create a tunnel effect. They are oriented strictly towards sunrise and sunset. Thus, in the morning the first rays, sliding along the white walls, gently wake the residents, and in the evening warm light pours into the western window, announcing the end of the day. If you look at the dwelling from the shore, it seems that it hovers over the island. The raised dock leads to an open wooden veranda on the other side, which slides into the interior of the room. Before getting there, the guests, as if taking the first walk, will have time to get hungry. And what could be better than a picnic in nature?
