An amazing home in USA… as always, with this incredible cabin house
How difficult it is in our time to surprise or amaze with something… Sometimes it seems that everything has already been invented, everything has been tried, and everything has been created. But don’t jump to conclusions. If you got up in the morning, the sun is shining and life is raging outside the window, it means that not everything has been created yet …
And the creative forum will try to prove it and surprise you by talking about the Modern Cabin house design project, which was developed by the interior design studio Olson Kunding Architects. It began its existence in 1960 under the direction of architect Jim Olson (Jim Olson). He considered any architectural structure as a bridge between nature, culture and man.
In 1996, Tom Kunding joined the team and co-founded the firm. Now a new approach to architecture has begun to develop on a global scale. Currently, the team includes not only architects and designers, but also artists. Thus, the company’s management combines different approaches to the development of a particular project, creating a sense of the continuity of everything that exists.
On the island of San Juan (San Juan Island), Washington, USA, a project of an unusual house with an area of almost 50 square meters was implemented . This building is a unique design concept, which is a glass cube. The cabin house is surrounded by wooden folding panels that are raised and lowered as needed by a hydraulic system consisting of steel wire ropes, a rotating grooved wheel and a guide block. When raised, the panels serve as a protective shutter for the glass walls of the cabin house. When they are lowered, their purpose is the terrace in front of the building.
The cabin house consists of one room with a small kitchen and a bathroom. A fireplace is installed in the center of the room. the interior in the style of minimalism is emphasized by a steel-colored floor insert, which is, as it were, a horizontal continuation of the fireplace and visually divides the room into two equal parts.
The client was a writer who wanted to create not just a house against the background of beautiful nature, but a real refuge for a creative nature. This kind of design idea is a vivid example of the rational use of a small space, which does not exclude the desired comfort and luxury in the home. A distinctive feature is an exclusive, modern, sophisticated design combined with consistent style and uncomplicated construction. In simple words – it was more difficult to come up with something to bring to life.
The work was not limited in time, as it really took a lot of effort and time to create such a magnificent unique home, despite its size. But as a result, a beautiful home was created, a real work of art against the backdrop of the endless blue expanses of the ocean – an ideal place for privacy and relaxation.
